August 15, 2009 – the celebration that is Shamar and Konstantinos. It was a joy to witness this union and capture it. Two individuals from diverse backgrounds (Caribbean & Greek) made for an amazing and festive reception filled with traditions and dance from two worlds apart. Yet on this night these two individuals and their cultures came together as one in true celebration. To Shamar and Konstantinos: May you remember your special day for years to come, and may these images remind you of your special bond and commitment to each other for years to come. It is hard to believe that July 11th, 2009 has come and gone. For so long for many of us it was a day we were all looking towards with anticipation. Our beloved Steph was getting married. Dave was the beneficiary. :-) Words can’t describe how so many of us are filled with joy for this union. Happy the rest of your lives you two. May these images remind you of your special day. Cottage Life – “A Childhood”

We celebrated Canada Day 2009 with my sister Hedwich and my “favourite brother-in-law”, Grant, and their kids up at their cottage on Little Beausoleil Island in Georgian Bay (about 90 minutes north of Toronto). OH CANADA, we are so blessed in sooooo many ways. The sunsets up there are predictably beautiful! The air clean. The sentiment peaceful. The heart thankful. The kids play without pause and occupy their time on the water, chasing frogs, playing a good ole fashion game of monopoly (with serious bargaining and laughter). How good does it get? Thank you Hed and Grant for sharing, we are grateful. My sister made a very “deep” comment this weekend when she said,” to us it’s a cottage – to the kids it’s a childhood”. It made me think of Michael Jackson as so many mourned his death this last week. All his riches and fame. All he ever wanted, was a childhood. How richly blessed we are. Thanks Be To God! Our best friends turned 25 this week!!! (actually it’s their 25th Anniversary). We love Eric and Nancy dearly (sometimes….no, most of the time!). My kids call them Uncle and Aunt…(they are too white to be related to me!). Eric can’t even play squash very well (got ya! ….but then you are used to that). Their kids, David and Andrew are related to me (I wiped their butts when they were once upon a time…babies?). Can you tell…best friends. For all they give to sooooo many people who surround them may they enjoy the next 25. Here is a collage of a wonderful afternoon we had at our friends the Steffler’s. Unbelievable hosts, Terry and Rob had guest guitarist Kevin Ramessar play and sing. Incredible afternoon!

A moment of pride!

Some call it the May long weekend! Some call it Victoria day. Whatever it is, it is a holiday in these parts and often this weekend is marked as the beginning of summer for us Canadians. We found ourself visiting Ottawa…a reunion with relatives. Ottawa (our nation’s capital) is a five hour trip from our home in Waterloo. Sometimes these moments along a stretch of road breeds perspective. We live in a beautiful country, some say the best place on earth to live. The road brought me awareness of how truly blessed we really all are. On a cool and windy Sunday afternoon our family strolled from our hotel towards the Parliament buildings. It was a sight to behold as the glorious symbol of our democracy unveiled itself….Ok…I’m getting carried away, but the buildings that house our government in session are truly magnificent. Here is a quick snap of the Parliament Building and The Peace Tower.

October can’t come soon enough for these two! I am thrilled to give you a peak at a few shots of their engagement session on a windy, rather cool but sunny April afternoon in Ontario. It was a bit of a challenge getting out of the wind and finding the leeward side of the buildings, and once there we had to deal with the rather harsh light. The setting is the very small and quaint Belmont Village where Erin lives. Erin is moving at the end of the month from her tiny bachelorette apartment, and before too many memories are boxed up and moved away we decided it would be a wonderful keep sake to take some shots of the place she called home and where Scott left so many impressions on her. Erin & Scott, I am sooo looking forward to capturing your wedding day in October. Although I’d like to savour the summer months before that takes place….I CAN’T WAIT!!!!
